Introduction to Final Cut

In today’s lesson our group was introduced to the software called Final Cut. This software is one of the best editing software in the media industry. Out teacher Mr Henton gave us quick tutorial on how to use Final Cut and some of features on it. After familiarising ourselves with Final Cut we edited an old video clip for practice, this was to give us some experience of editing before we do our preliminary task.

Final cut express is video editing software created by Apple. This software is designed for advanced editing and can be used by armatures and professionals. Final Cut is a more a more advanced software than iMovie.


Some of Final cut express’s features are: 

· The ability to keyframe filters

· Dynamic RT, which changes real-time settings on-the-fly

· Motion path keyframing

· Opacity keyframing

· Ripple, roll, slip, slide and blade edits

· Picture-in-picture and split-screen effects

· Up to 99 video tracks and 12 compositing modes

· Up to 99 audio tracks

· Motion project import

· Two-way color correction.

· Chroma key
